2020 Box Lacrosse Season Cancelled
To Our Mustangs Families,
We are saddened to announce the cancellation of the 2020 box lacrosse season. Although the BCLA and Sport BC are still working hard to formulate a return to play plan, the CMLA executive has unanimously agreed that we will no longer wait. Nothing is more important to our club then the health and safety of our players, fan, coaches, referees, and volunteers. We will continue to work along side the BCLA, City of Chilliwack and local health organizations in hopes of holding development sessions once restrictions are further lifted and the curve has lessened. Our goal is to get sticks back into hands and have our kids playing the game they love.
Due to the roughly $20,000 in costs incurred running our program from January to March, we are unable to give 100% refunds without putting our association in financial jeopardy. We are a not-for-profit organization and have a minimal bank balance carried over year to year. We rely on current year registrations to fund our current season. Beginning May 15th, we are offering our members three options for their 2020 registration fees:
Option #1 – Refund
75% refund of registration payment plus 100% refund of payment for socks/shorts (if applicable). No further refunds will be available and there will be no carry over to the 2021 season.
Option #2 – Carry Over
100% dollar value carry over to the 2021 season. A credit for the exact dollar amount that was paid for 2020 registration (including socks and shorts) will be carried over and applied to your registration costs for the 2021 season.
Option #3 – Donation
Donate 100% of your registration payment to CMLA. No further refunds will be available and there will be no carry over to the 2021 season.
CMLA has created a questionnaire that all members must complete to indicate which of the above options they choose. Please complete one questionnaire per registered player. Your responses will be collected from May 15th to June 15th, 2020. If we have not received your response by 11:59pm on June 15th, you will automatically be deemed as selecting Option #2.

Players who have not yet paid in full, sponsored players, and graduating Midgets, you will be contacted directly regarding your refund/carry over options.
There are many players that still have the evaluation pinnies that were handed out at open floors. CMLA is setting up a contact free drop off point to return those pinnies; dates and locations will be announced shortly. Players that have signed out an evaluation pinny must return it prior to receiving any refunds.

We never imagined when we opened registration in December what would unfold in the months that followed. It has been challenging navigating together through our first global pandemic but we appreciate the patience and understanding that our families have afforded us. We hope all our players stay safe and healthy and spend some quality time honing their lacrosse skills.
